What is Powerlifting?
A community built by powerlifters
events & communication
2020 will be an exciting year for the Singapore and Asian community. Beginning with the Tertiary Powerlifting Championships in January, this inaugural event is an event specially for students in Junior Colleges, Polytechnics, Institutes of Technical Educations, and Universities.
This will be followed by Sheffield 2020 Champion of Champions event, where Singapore’s top male powerlifter, Clinton Lee, will be competing amongst other giants of the sport.
In early April, we will see some of our local lifters head to the Southeast Asian Cup 2020, hosted by the Thai Powerlifting Federation in Bangkok.
SPO is our flagship annual event of the year. This year, SPO 2020 will be held in conjunction with ActiFit Asia 2020, our long-time event partner, at Marina Bay Sands, from 17-19 April 2020. This is also the final competition for athletes who hope to qualify for the IPF World University Powerlifting Cup 2020.
Our third major event of the year is held in September each year, and presents the final opportunity for athletes who are hoping to be nominated for the Asian Classic Championships. This year, the battle will be fierce as athletes fight for coveted spots in the team heading to Nagano, Japan, for the Asian Classic Championships 2020.
For the year 2019, we will be nominating athletes for the following international events:
- APF Southeast Asian Powerlifting Cup 2020 (10-12 April 2020, Thailand)
- IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships 2020 (12 to 21 June, Belarus)
- IPF World University Powerlifting Cup 2020 (6 to 11 July, UAE)
- APF Asian Classic Powerlifting Championship 2020 (2 to 8 Dec, Japan)
